Tenille’s Nutrition Success Story

I have known Tenille and her family for some time now. A few months ago, she approached me saying that she was at her wit's end and was ready to make a lifestyle change so that she could be around more for her son and wife.

This is Tenille’s story:

“My health was not great. My weight was the highest it had ever been at 193 lbs. I was miserable; I didn't want to be active. On top of that, I have an autoimmune disorder, fibromyalgia, that flares up often: arthritis in my hands, my feet hurt all the time, and my stomach was upset at least every other day. I was constantly bloated and WAY overweight.

I decided I needed to make a change… My problem was I didn't know how to eat or exercise the right way that would help me find relief.

Prior to signing up for Sunshine Functional Fitness’ Nutrition Coaching Program, my diet was as bad as you can imagine. My diet consisted of fast food, soda, and sweets. My busy work schedule, working anywhere from 10-24 hours a day, made it hard to eat right most of the time. It doesn't help that I'm an EXTREMELY picky eater and eat like a 5-year-old. I only ate hamburgers and hot dogs, no other meat. Pizza, tacos, pasta, macaroni, potatoes, and spaghetti are a few other things I would eat. I never ate any fruit and once in a great while corn for a veggie.

My wife was on the same team as Coach Jer back when he worked for Disney and he had helped her make a few changes to her nutrition and lifestyle that yielded big results. Coach Jer also coached our son at his weekly “kids classes” he held at the gym. Our son made great improvements to his movement quality and he was always excited to go and “workout”! So all of that combined convinced me that Coach Jer could help me, I knew he was the man for the job! If he couldn't help me, I don't think anyone could.

Fast forward to now, I have learned so much from Sunshine Functional Fitness’ Nutrition Coaching Program! Being such a picky eater, we were able to strategize and put together foods that I do eat into healthy meals. I have even been able to expand on what foods I eat! Getting recipes and ideas of how much of each item I should eat per day really helped me. I didn't have to give up all the things I like I just needed to change how I prepare things and how much I eat. The program showed me how to shop, what items are better for me, and to focus on eating real, whole foods as the bulk of my diet.

Upping my protein intake has helped me feel so much better! I don’t snack much anymore. I chose to cut out bread, pasta, and soda from the beginning to reduce inflammation and improve my gut health. It has really made a difference as I’m no longer tired and lethargic.

I have also learned that I can still enjoy the foods I like. I just don't eat them every day. Having a doughnut once in a while is fine. I obviously know now that eating them every day with a soda for breakfast is not a healthy habit (LOL). I have picked up new, healthy, sustainable habits. I realize how much better I feel and I'm not tired all the time. It has given me a better quality of life.

As Coach Jer has told me, the scale isn’t everything. I should focus on how I look, feel and perform. However, I will say, as of today, I have lost 20+ lbs and can fit into pants that were getting too tight! Additionally, my inflammation has drastically reduced in my hands and body. My fibromyalgia is better and under control. I'm not bloated anymore and my gut doesn't have that tight, upset feeling anymore. I do know that if I can get in a couple more workouts a week, I will feel even better! I would recommend that everyone try the program and see what a difference it can make!”
